Your first week with WPMaven
This page walks the entire first week from start to finish. It is worth reading once, even if you only plan to do part of it today. Everything else in this help site assumes you have seen this page.
You do not need to know anything about websites, marketing, or WordPress.
What is going to happen
You will describe the business you want to run. WPMaven builds you a website and a whole team of AI operators, and those operators start doing the work: designing the site, writing the pages, setting up your store, publishing to your social accounts, and keeping everything running.
You stay in charge: once your site is built, nothing on it changes and nothing gets published until you say yes.
If you started with the $1 first week, this is that week. What it includes, and what happens on day 8, is further down.
Step 1: Describe your business
When you sign up, you are asked what you want to sell and who you want to sell it to. Answer in your own words. “I bake sourdough and want to sell it to people near me” is a complete answer.
From that, WPMaven builds:
- a website with your products on it
- a plan for the next twelve months
- a whole team of AI operators, each with one job
Step 2: Look at your plan
The first screen you see after that is your dashboard. The graph on it is your plan, not a promise. It is the shape a business like yours could follow if the work gets done every week.
Two lines matter:
- Sales forecast is the plan you accepted when you started.
- Your sales is real money, drawn on top of it as it arrives.
The dashed end of your own line is the week you are in right now. It is drawn at the pace the week is running at, so you can compare it with the weeks that already finished. See What the forecast line means before you make any decision based on it.
Step 3: Connect one channel
Your operators can write as much as they like, but they cannot post anywhere until you connect an account.
Go to Your team → Connect and connect one channel. Pick the one you post from most, as long as it is open to you today: Channels you can connect says which networks are still reviewing WPMaven or have not approved it yet.
You do not have to connect all of them. One is enough to start. See How to connect your social accounts for what each channel needs.
If you connect X, add your site link to your X bio: posts to X go out without a link, so your bio is where people find you.
Step 4: Approve your first post
Within a day, your social media manager will have written something and put it in front of you. It appears under Waiting for you in the sidebar, with a number beside it, and on your Home under Your operators are on it.
You have three choices:
- Approve publishes it to the channels you connected.
- Reject throws it away and your operator writes something else.
- Refine lets you say what to change, in your own words.
Read it. If it does not sound like you, say so. Your operators learn from what you reject as much as from what you approve.
Approving a post uses one action, however many of your channels it goes to. See What an action is.
Step 5: Choose your first video
When your first video is due, a video choice waits for you under Waiting for you. Our pick for your business comes first, with one sentence on why, and one to three others next to it, each with its price shown before anything is made. Choose one and approve it. See How to choose a video.
During the $1 first week you see your video as a storyboard, and it is made on day 8, when your plan starts.
Step 6: Wait
This is the part that feels wrong and is not. After your first posts go out, nothing dramatic happens for a few days. Traffic arrives before orders do, and orders arrive before regular orders do.
Your dashboard shows what changed: visitors, pageviews, orders and revenue for the week.
Step 7: Read your first weekly report
At the end of your first week, a report lands under Reports. It says what went out, what it did, and what your team plans to do next.
That report is the rhythm of using WPMaven. Once a week you read what happened, approve what is next, and get on with the rest of your life.
If you started with the $1 week
The $1 week runs the same path, with a few limits that keep it at $1:
- Your previewed site goes live.
- Your team makes up to 5 finished things you approve. A post counts once, however many networks it goes to.
- You get 30 Quick chat replies and approvals, WhatsApp included. Deep replies start with your plan.
- The week has its own AI budget of $1.50. When it is used, you are told: “Your first week’s AI budget is used. Start your month now to keep going.”
- Your first video is a storyboard, made into the video on day 8.
- A page or an article written in the week counts toward the 5 and waits for day 8. It is published on day 8, and only if you continue.
- The $1 first week is one time only: one per person and per business in any 12 months. If it was already used, you are told before you pay, or by email and on Billing when your card or a connected account shows it after you pay, and your plan starts at its full price. A prepaid card starts your plan at its full price straight away, and a social account or a domain already used for a $1 first week in the last 12 months cannot be connected during the week.
You do not have to wait for day 8. Start my month now, on your Home, on Billing or in chat, charges your plan’s monthly price and starts your first month that day. Go annual charges the year and starts it that day, with two months free. See How to change your plan or cancel.
On day 8 your plan starts at its full price, and your site and store stay live and hosted, SEO and structured data are set up on every page, a monthly check of what AI answers say about your business starts, and your weekly report keeps coming. Plus, in your first month: 1 extra video, any kind (a dearer kind pays only its difference, shown before it is made), unless your first month was bought at a discount. Your first month opens in full on day 8, because you asked us to start right away when you signed up or at checkout; see If you subscribe from the EU or the UK.
If you decide not to continue, cancel before day 8 from Billing. Before you do, it offers the Minimum plan, which keeps your site and store live for $19 a month; see The Minimum plan. If you cancel, a site we host comes down on day 8, with a final backup kept for 90 days, and the pages waiting for day 8 are never published.
