Wall Math.

A web app for house painters to measure rooms, price jobs and send quotes.

The sentence that was typed

Wall Math is a SaaS web app I built as a house painter in Columbus, Ohio: painters measure the rooms, price the job and send a quote in the browser, $19 a month solo or $49 for a crew of up to 5, with a 14-day free trial.

The result.

How it was built, step by step.

Every screenshot below comes from the real build. Click one to see it larger.

  1. Describe the business

Write the business in a sentence or two, the way you would tell a friend. This one is 221 characters, and that is the whole brief.

  2. WPMaven reads it back

Before it builds anything, WPMaven reads the sentence back as a plan: the business, the team, the pages, the plugins (the add-ons the site runs on) and the first products. It kept the name Wall Math, planned 8 pages (including Features and Pricing) and added a membership plugin. You can tweak anything before the build starts.

  3. Check the plans

WPMaven proposes an opening lineup with a price for each item in the store's currency. Every item can be ticked off, renamed or repriced before the build. Here the lineup was set to two monthly plans instead of products: one for a solo painter and one for a crew.

The pictures on this screen are stand-ins, the same one for every plan.

  4. A first-year estimate

WPMaven drafts an estimate from your sentence: how many orders or bookings the first month might bring, how that could grow over a year, the usual size of one and the running costs. The chart carries on to two years. It is an estimate to help you plan, based on assumptions you can change. Once you start selling, your real numbers show next to it on your Home.

  5. Pick a style

WPMaven explores four style directions and applies each one to the preview on the left as you try it. Hover one to try it on, click to choose it. Here WPMaven's recommended direction, Jobsite Utility, was picked.

  6. The team builds it

The team builds the site while you watch: the homepage first, then every page, a review of each page and the move into WordPress. The progress card on the right names the current phase.

  7. Ready to launch

When the build ends you get the live preview, a list of what the team did, a drafted launch post and a first week of marketing tasks. The launch post and the marketing tasks are drafts: they go out only after you sign up.
