About the role
As a Technical Writer at WPMaven, you'll be responsible for creating clear, comprehensive documentation that helps users understand and get the most from the AI team that runs our customers' businesses. You'll write everything from getting started guides to advanced API documentation.
Responsibilities
- Write and maintain user documentation including guides, tutorials, and how-to articles.
- Create API documentation for developers integrating with WPMaven.
- Develop onboarding materials and in-app help content.
- Produce video scripts and visual documentation as needed.
- Keep documentation up-to-date as features evolve.
- Work with product and engineering to understand new features and document them clearly.
- Gather user feedback to improve documentation quality and coverage.
- Establish documentation standards and style guides.
Requirements
Experience
- 3+ years of technical writing experience, preferably for software products.
- Experience writing for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Portfolio demonstrating clear, user-focused documentation.
Skills
- Exceptional writing skills with attention to clarity and accuracy.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts in simple terms.
- Willingness to describe a product honestly, including what it does not do yet.
- Experience with documentation tools (GitBook, Docusaurus, ReadMe, etc.).
- Basic understanding of APIs and developer workflows.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple documentation projects.
Nice to have
- Experience documenting AI/ML products.
- Background in web development or hosting.
- Video production or screen recording experience.
- Experience with docs-as-code workflows (Git, Markdown).
- SEO knowledge for documentation discoverability.
